The Stokes County Mental Health Association was
organized by community leaders in 1972 and is an affiliate of the North
Carolina Mental Health Association. The Association works to improve
community understanding of the challenges facing those that struggle with
mental illness, addictions and developmental disabilities. We seek to
increase awareness in order to improve access to available services and
reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
Our mission
is to promote mental health in the community through education, advocacy and
support.
Our services include:

any organized group
·

Support for
families that have lost a loved one to suicide
In addition, the Mental Health Association
manages Counseling and Care Ministry, a faith based endeavor dealing with
suicide intervention and support services for families left to deal with the
loss of their loved one to suicide. We host an annual bass fishing
tournament and various other fundraisers in order to provide the services
listed above. In May of each year, we hold our annual Fun Day as part of an
effort to normalize mental illness, developmental disabilities and
addiction.
